Cyclo ‘Y’ Wrench Ball Ended Allen keys 4,5 and 6mm AND Cyclo ‘Y’ Wrench Allen keys 2, 2.5 and 3mm

The Y-shaped allen keys arrived just to the worst rush of bike maintenance, so they received all the attention I could give. I have used only "standard" ball-end hex keys for a long time, so this Shuriken-shaped beast was a new thing to me.

The build quality is nothing less than I expected. It's a solid tool, with a good grip area. One nice thing is that one can attach the tools on top of each other, so they dont get lost that easily. Which is another nice thing - the standard allen keys always fall to the floor, and get lost to the stangest of places. These are much larger, so I found them easily.

Then to the usability. The first thing I noticed is that I can use a lot of force with these tools. The tool fit into my fist, and I can use all the strength in my arm to twist, whereas using standard hex keys I can use only my fingers, if I have inserted the "long end" of the key to the bolt. And that's when the most force is needed.

I found three minuses: first, if I need to use huge force, the ball end tends to "cut into" the bolt, because the surface pressure tends to get a bit higher. This never happened with steel bolts, but with aluminium frame bolts I had one panic attack. Not a serious problem, when you know it. Second, the tool does not fit into your pocket as easily, then again, the size is also a good thing, - you don't lose the tool very easily. Third is also related to the size, you can't use these to open bolts from the inside of a full suspension frame, if you have such bolts.

As a conclusion, I think the tools are magnificent. For some narrow places I still have to use standard wrenches, but all other work I do, I use these from now on. Top of the grade. I have now fixed eleven bikes with these tools, and I can heartily recommend them.
