TF2 Plus Dry Lubricant with Teflon Surface Protector and TF2 Dry Wax Chain Wax + Krytox
TF2 Plus + Dry: This product arrived just as the Scottish summer ended. The skies opened up and the trails became very wet. On the first dry day I degreased my chain using the dirt wash chain cleaner and applied some of the dry lube. Having only every used wet lube I was unsure what to expect. But I was surprised at how well it handled the wet conditions. Not only did it keep the chain running very smoothly it hardly collected any muck. My only complaints with it are that due to it being a dry lube it is very runny and so the bottle it comes in isn’t best suited as the nozzle is a little big and therefore it comes out too fast causing wastage. The other concern is the fact that it is so chemical, this is evident from its smell and the fact it comes with a warning to say it is damaging to the environment. I’d like to see an eco version so that environmental damage is minimal.
TF2 Dry Wax: This is a product I have been keen to try. Applying it was easy and unlike the dry lube it didn’t come out too fast. The blue/green colour makes it easy to see where it has been applied. I trailed this out on the common wealth track in Glasgow which has a mixture of terrain from bed rock to fast descents through the forest and a small river crossing. What was noticeable was how quiet the drive train was. At the end of the ride the bike had collected a fair amount of dirt and grit yet the chain was grit free and looked the same as before the ride.
Both products did their jobs very well considering they weren’t intended for wet muddy rides and should Scotland get another dry spell I will be sure to use them over a wet lube.
